"Contemplation" in Copytext
a newly published poem!
My friends Lauren Frey and Marisa Lainson (both brilliant poets!) recently founded a fascinating publication called Copytext Magazine, which features poems, artwork, fiction, and creative nonfiction in conversation with early drafts of each published piece. (Read about their vision here.)
They selected my poem “Contemplation” for inclusion in Issue Two, something that greatly delights me, and something I want to share with all of you! I have posted this poem — a palindromic meditation on desire, prayer, and juniper trees — on my Substack before, but now you can see it alongside two early drafts (first and middle) and a statement about the process that went into writing it.
In lieue of a longer post, then, I invite you to visit “Contemplation” in its new home — and to consider checking out the other pieces in Issue Two while you’re at it. :-)
Also, if you’re a writer with interest in a project like this, keep an eye out for Copytext’s next submission window! These brilliant friends of mine are doing incredible work over there.
